Some of our DANK Schools were founded more than thirty years ago. They were started because a small group of very dedicated DANK members put into action one of the many purposes of DANK, namely:
To foster more deeply German culture and customs and
to promote the preservation of the German language.
(quoted from the Bylaws of the German American
National Congress, Article II: Governing Laws)
Over the years our DANK Schools continued enrolling students; the records tell us there were sixteen
DANK Schools in various parts of the country by 1974.
Our oldest DANK School, from DANK Chapter Chicago North, is located in the
DANK Haus
on Western Avenue in Chicago. It offers all children and adults a culturally stimulating, as well as technically engaging curriculum.
Our second oldest one is DANK School Fox Valley
formerly in Aurora, now in Naperville and West
Chicago, Illinois.
Our most recently founded school is DANK School Phoenix,
Arizona. More Schools to open soon.
