German History Contest
Students from grades 8 to 12 in Erie County Pennsylvania are eligible to enter the German History Contest sponsored by DANK Chapter 71, the German Heritage Society of Erie.
The contest was designed to encourage students to learn more about the German speaking immigrants’ experiences, stories of success and perhaps failures. There is a wealth of information available to support the many contributions Germans made in all walks of life - education, health, welfare, and socially. The student may choose to write about the family's genealogy or the experience of coming to America. There is a $50 prize in the Junior Level (grades 8-10) and $100 in the Senior Level (grades 11-12). Senior level students are encouraged to submit their essay in German, but it is not mandatory. All students will receive a Certificate of Participation.
The essay should be no less than 1500 words or more than 2500 words doubled spaced on their paper.
All entries must be postmarked on or before April 30th, 2010.
