On June 5, 2010 DANK opened up its newest chapter in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. National President Bill Fuchs (me) and VP Erich Wittmann represented the National Board at this special occasion. This just made me feel good good! As I was flying back to Amsterdam from Bombay, India on May 28, I captured this shot of the Moon as it sat over my home town area of Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Over the last 3 weeks the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano created havoc and virtually shut down all of European airspace for over a week. I had my flight schedule cancelled and changed, finally able to fly on April 21.

Friday, March 19, 2010, marked a major milestone for not only the German-American Community in our nation’s capitol, Washington D.C., but also for all German-Americans. We celebrated the opening of the German-American Cultural Center and the German American Heritage Museum of the USA at the newly renovated Hockemeyer Hall.

Wow, what a day it has been. The weather was nice but the festival was even nicer. German Fest outdid themselves.
