After the Saturday Gala Ball, delegates made it back to their rooms to change into more comfortable attire. Off with the shoes, out of the gown, and into some comfy pajamas or what ever one may sleep in. Delegates, guests and dignitaries were dressed to kill as the evening festivities got under way. The emcee welcomed everyone and then invited Bill Schimidt, President of DANK South, Mayor Jim Holland of Frankfort , Consul General Onno Hückmann and National President Bill Fuchs forward to bring greetings and congratulations to all present. The line at the bar was constant and the dance floor was full.

The Presidency was again uncontested and Bill Fuchs was unanimously re-elected. After the votes were counted Erik Wittmann and Donna Lippert were re-elected to the positions of Vice-President. Beverly Pochatko was uncontested for the position of Secretary and Maria Thompson was uncontested for the position of Treasurer, both are expected to serve for the next two years.

Some of you may be wondering where the convention coverage is for the remainder of the convention. Things got really busy but they will be coming soon, so look for coverage on the Gala event and an inside look at the official convention pajama party. There are a lot of pictures to sort through and I should have something up on Wednesday this week.
Friday’s convention events came to an end with a fantastic Dinner and Dance at DANK Chicago South’s Club House. During the evening there were various awards presented as well as the induction of the first DANK Youth Ambassador, Andrea Dietz. A right up with details will be available in the next German-American Journal which will be out in a few weeks.

We’re here at the DANK National Election which will start off with the Delegate Business Meeting from 9:00-11:00. This is were nominations from the floor can be made and candidates can talk about their vision for the organization. The actual election will take place from 11:00-12:00. Our Milwaukee DANK Chapter will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary on April 17, 2010. It will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 917 N. 49th Street in Milwaukee. This is located near Miller Park, home to the Milwaukee Brewers.
This event will include their DANK CHOR singers. It is scheduled to begin at 5:30pm… the doors will open at 5:00pm.
