But, once again the Germans are in the Bavarian dress which is showcasing only one area of Germany. Yes, it is what Americans think of when "German" is refereed to and many Germans do where this type of ethnic dress during Oktoberfest season. It is good to enjoy the tracht, beer and great food but we must step up and show positive contributions within our communities in order to gain visibility and respect. Groups of us can volunteer at a soup kitchen, collect food for our local food pantries, give gifts to the needy during the holidays or even caroling at a local senior center.
