Milwaukee Germanfest on Saturday

Wow, what a day it has been.  The weather was nice but the festival was even nicer.  German Fest outdid themselves.  While the Milwaukee Air & Water show was going on at the lake front, our visitors to German Fest reaped all the benefits of the Air Force Thunderbirds formation flying demonstration, the F18 a performance demonstration, various other air show features and then the parade at 2PM, which featured no less than 5 DANK chapters marching in unison.  A first in recent times!  But that was not all.  Good food, great music (By the way, Chikeria from Munich is back) and lot’s of Gemuetlichkeit.  And then: Another air show just for German Fest.  Shawn Tucker and his aerial maneuvers started the excitement followed by an awesome F-15 Eagle 20 minute high performance demonstration which ended in a combination fly-by in formation with a beautiful P-51 Mustang from World War 2 vintage.  What a show!  It did not stop though.  The show continued with the Lima Lima air team and T-6 night time air precision flying which in itself is awesome.  After 2 hours of this the visitors finally had a moment to catch their favorite band and a brat and then the spectacular fire works at 10:30 PM.  I got a chance to get in a dance with my wife to the music of Chikerea, and doing the Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarch with her, Dina Haupt and Elfriede Thut of Fox Valley.  Best of all, our DANK sponsorship tent was buzzing with activity, signing up great new members and signing up applicants to our wonderful DANK credit cards.  More to come soon, especially pictures.  In the mean time check out our Forum, where John Dienhart is posting pictures every day.
